Ms. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County
July 24, 1995
Page 4
one location near the fence line. Soil samples will be analyzed for TPH with
characterization of peaks and CAM 5 metals.
If PID readings or visual evidence indicates the presence of impacted material,
additional soil gas, soil, and/or groundwater samples will be collected to estimate
volume of impacted material.
Washdown Pad Area/Northern Perimeter
New and used equipment is cleaned on a concrete pad in the northwest corner of the
property using acid and basic pastes and water. Wash water drains off the pad and
onto an area of deteriorated and broken asphalt. Two diesel USTs and a fuel
dispenser island are located north of this area on an adjacent parcel.
To evaluate potential impact to soil from the nearby USTs, a soil gas sample will be
collected from one location at the low point adjacent to the concrete washdown pad
and near the northern fence line. The soil gas sample will be field screened with a
PID.
To evaluate potential impact to groundwater from the nearby USTs, the soil boring will
be deepened and one groundwater sample will be collected using the Hydropunch
technique. The groundwater sample will be analyzed for TPH with characterization of
peaks and VOCs.
To evaluate potential impact to shallow soils of washdown activities, one soil sample
will be collected from a location adjacent to the soil gas sample location. The soil
sample will be analyzed for TPH with characterization of peaks and CAM 5 metals.
Unpaved Storage Yard
Parts and equipment are being stored in this area and approximately five to seven
areas of oil-stained surface soil are present. Fifty-five gallon drums of lubricating oils,
hydraulic fluids, and solvents are stored on pallets without secondary containment.
Soil gas samples will be collected from 4 locations and will be field screened with a
PID. Two of the soil gas sample locations will be in stained areas and the other two
in random locations within the storage area.
Soil samples will be collected from ten locations at the one- and five-foot depths using
a Geoprobe system. Approximately half of the soil samples will be collected from
visibly stained locations and the other half at random locations within the storage area.
WINHYDRO-SEARCH, nG A Tetra Tech company
