• HE HYDROSERRCH, inc.
February 23, 1996 A Tetra Tech Company
C AMAIN\FMC\5042\SAMPM W.LTR
Mr. Harlin Knoll FEB 26 M 10. 44
Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Subject: Work Plan for Sampling Monitor Wells at
FranRica Manufacturing, Stockton CA
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Attached is the proposed workplan for sampling three groundwater monitor wells and
one capped well at FranRica Manufacturing, 2807 & 2829 South Highway 99,
Stockton, California. The work plan is designed to provide a higher level of
confidence that groundwater at the site has not been impacted by total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D). If no detectable TPH-D is present, Hydro-Search, Inc.
(HSI) will apply to San Joaquin County for permission to abandon these wells.
The proposed work includes sampling and analysis of three monitor wells (SS-MW-1
through -3) and the capped well shown in Figure 1, attached. The wells will be
purged by removing a minimum of three casing volumes with a submersible pump.
The samples will be collected with a new disposable bailer, placed in clean, laboratory-
supplied bottles and transported in a chilled insulated container. The samples will be
analyzed for TPH-D using EPA Method 8015, modified by NET, Inc., a state certified
analytical laboratory. Chain of custody protocol will be maintained on all samples
from collection to acceptance by the analytical laboratory.
Because initial sampling results from these wells indicated no detectable
concentrations of TPH-D, purge water generated from sampling will be discharged to
the ground.
A report describing field activities, analytical results and conclusions will be prepared
by HSI and submitted to FMC and San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
within 90 days of receipt of analytical results.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 853-1800.
Sincerely,
HYDRO-SEARCH, INC.
Ross D.
