1
' Sde Assessment Report and Request for Closure i
Sears Auto Center No 1288,5110 Pacific Avenue,Stockton,California February 10,2000
' EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Sears Auto Center No 1288, located at 5110 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, California, is an active
' automotive service center This subsurface environmental assessment was performed to confirm the
vertical extent of potential soil containing petroleum hydrocarbons adjacent to the former three 10,000-
gallon gasoline and four 1,000-gallon new/used-oil underground storage tanks (USTs) Soil sampling
' was required because bottom of excavation samples were not collected when the USTs were removed
in 1985
' On November 8, 1999, soil samples were collected from six boring locations (VA-1 through VA-6)
using a DPT sampling ng The bonngs were advanced to a minimum of 12 feet below ground surface
(bgs) To avoid a concrete pad that supported the former new/used-oil USTs, bonngs VA-1 and VA-2
' were advanced at a 20-degree angle approximately 6 feet from the centerline of the former USTs
Bonngs VA-3 through VA-6 were advanced vertically within 10 feet of the former gasoline USTs Soil
' beneath the site consists predominantly of clay with sand lenses encountered at various depths to 20
vertical feet bgs, the maximum depth of the soil investigation Continuous soil samples were collected
from the bonngs A soil sample collected from the bottom of each boring was submitted for laboratory
analysis
Based on the data from this verification assessment, site closure and no further action is requested
since petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected, except for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
fuel (TPH-d) reported in the soil sample collected from boring VA-2 at a concentration of 4 8
milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg)
i
I
1
I
1
' 12BOVAR doc FT CORPOPATON
