T4s•
AS Well Abandonment/ Replacement Details
Wells to be Abandoned and Replaced:
AS-14, AS-42 and AS-45 (all of which had trouble with groundwater recharge and showed elevated pH
levels during development possibly related to ineffective bentonite seals)
Measured Total Depths:
52.8 ft, 59.6 ft and 66.1 ft, respectively
Target Depths for Replacement Wells:
58 ft, 61 ft and 68 ft, respectively
Well Construction Details:
Each replacement well will be of similar construction to previous wells with #2/12 sand, 3 feet of 0.010"
slot screen, 1 foot sand above the screen, and 3 feet bentonite seal (w/coated pellets).
Well Abandonment/Replacement Procedures:
Spectrum Exploration will use 10-inch augers to over-drill AS-14,AS-42 and AS-45 to the associated
target depths. A stinger will be used to insure the abandoned well and associated construction materials
will be removed. Once removed, a new AS Well will be installed inside the 10-inch augers (i.e., same
borehole) using standard procedures. Special consideration will be made to insure proper pouring of
sand, bentonite and grout. The grout seal will be poured to approx. 3 feet bgs and topped with hydrated
bentonite pellets prior to placing a traffic mounted well box on each of the replacement wells.
Please call /write with any questions/comments.
Thanks, Jason
1/24/2007
