Section 10-1 Construction Details <br /> Well Destruction Specifications Special <br /> Page 3 of 3 <br /> 10-1 . 3 ORDER OF WORK <br /> The wells shall be destroyed in the following order: LVMD4, <br /> LVMD1, LVMD6, and LVMD2 . <br /> 10-1 .4 DECONTAMINATION <br /> All down-hole equipment shall be decontaminated between wells . <br /> Water and sediment produced during the destruction and <br /> decontamination processes shall be temporarily contained onsite, <br /> sampled for analysis by EPA Method 8010 by a DHS certified <br /> laboratory, and appropriately disposed of based on the results of <br /> the laboratory analysis . <br /> 10-1 .4a. Soil : All excess soil material that results from excava- <br /> tion and demolition shall be removed from the site. <br /> Spoil materials disposal shall be in accordance with <br /> California regulations . All contaminated material may be <br /> temporarily stored on plastic sheeting onsite and <br /> ultimately disposed of in a Class III landfill . <br /> 10-1 . 4b. Groundwater and decontamination water: All water <br /> generated during decontamination or destruction shall be <br /> disposed of in accordance with California regulations . <br /> Contaminated water shall be disposed of by recycling at <br /> . the Gibson Oil Recycling Facility, Redwood City, <br /> California, or approved equal . <br /> The contract lump sum price paid for decontamination, waste <br /> containment, and sampling shall include full compensation for <br /> furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals, <br /> and for doing all the work involved in providing adequate decontam- <br /> ination and waste containment facilities . Price shall also include <br /> waste sampling and testing prior to disposal . <br /> 10-1 . 5 PROTECTION OF FACILITIES AND IMPROVEMENTS <br /> The contractor shall protect and maintain all existing <br /> improvements including fences and roads against damage from <br /> equipment and vehicular traffic. Any damage shall be repaired by <br /> the contractor. The contractor shall protect utility lines and <br /> appurtenances that are to remain . It is the contractor' s <br /> responsibility to locate existing utilities on-site. Any damage <br /> shall be repaired by the contractor. <br /> During periods when no work is being done on the well, such as <br /> overnight or while waiting for sealing material to set, the well <br /> and surrounding excavation, if any, shall be covered. The cover <br /> shall be sufficiently strong and well enough anchored to prevent <br /> the introduction of foreign material into the well and to protect <br /> the public from a potentially hazardous situation. <br /> 6691\SPECS\SECTION.101 <br />
