Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
Mr. Michael Higgins
California Regional Water Quality Control Board-
Central Valley Region
16 July 1991
Page 2
Comment 4c:
A review of the geologic logs, electrical logs, and construction details for
MW12 and MW20 indicate that both wells appear to be fully penetrating.
Therefore, the solutions developed for the pump tests appear to be appropri-
ate with respect to screened intervals and for development of general aquifer
characteristics. A monitoring well which is screened throughout the entire
water-bearing formation would be contrary to Regional Water Quality Control
Board guidelines and direction.
Comment 4d:
Kennedy/Jenks believes that the four-hour time intervals, used for the pump
tests and the monitored water-level recoveries, were sufficient for develop-
ing order of magnitude estimates of aquifer characteristics. As your memo-
randum states, values estimated at this stage of the project are less impor-
tant than values needed for the extraction wells central to the future site
cleanup. At that time, a longer, more in-depth pump test may be required.
If you have any questions, please call us at 415/243-2150.
Very truly yours,
KENNEDY/JENKS CONSULTANTS, INC.
cs ) Tr9k Z--.)
Gerry S.
