Gettler-Ryan Inc.
P.O. Box 5004 6747 Sierra Court, Suite I
San Ramon, California 94583-0804 Dublin, California 94568
Subject: Request to Collect Split Groundwater Samples from Monitoring Wells at Bill Parks
Chevron, Lincoln Center, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Hunter and Ms. Harding:
On behalf of the Settling Dry Cleaning Defendants (SDCDs), Levine-Fricke•Recon (LFR) is
requesting access to collect split groundwater samples at Bill Parks Chevron in Stockton,
California. As we discussed during our telephone conversations of September 15, 1997 (with Mr.
Hunter) and September 16, 1997 (with Ms. Harding), LFR is conducting an ongoing
environmental investigation at the Lincoln Center site on behalf of the SDCDs. As part of the
environmental investigation, LFR performs monthly water-level measurements and quarterly
groundwater sampling at the Lincoln Center site.
Our next quarterly sampling event is scheduled for the week of November 10, 1997. It is LFR's
understanding that Gettler-Ryan has scheduled its next quarterly sampling event at the Chevron
site at the same time. To facilitate our environmental investigation, we request your permission to
allow an LFR geologist to accompany Gettler-Ryan personnel during this sampling event to collect
split groundwater samples from the four Chevron site monitoring wells (CHMW-2, CHMW-3,
CHMW-5, and CHMW-6). As discussed, these samples will be analyzed for volatile organic
compounds and LFR will transmit a copy of analytical data from the Chevron site samples to Ms.
Harding.
We look forward to receiving your permission to collect split samples during Gettler-Ryan's
November quarterly sampling event. In the future, we would like to discuss coordinating
schedules for water-level measurements at our respective sites. On behalf of the SDCDs, we thank
you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions concerning our request, please
do not hesitate to call Sarah Raker or me at (510) 652-4500.
Sincere! ,
Ron Goloubow
Senior Project Geologist
1900 Powell Street, 12th Floor, Emeryville, California 94608-1827 • (510) 652-4500 • fax (510) 652-2246
Offices Worldwide
lu-a=chevron-Nov97-04111:SRL 2
