The work areas for these installations will be
cordoned-off during drilling and trenching activities to prohibit access by unauthorized personnel.
Drilling field equipment will consist of a drilling rig and support vehicles very similar to those
used to install the nearby monitoring wells. The trenching work will be performed using a rubber-
tired backhoe and a small dump track. The top of the piezometer (monitoring well) will be below
the existing parking lot surface and completed with a small, round, bolt-down cover similar to the
other wells that LFR previously installed on the property. The extraction well will be completed
within a four-by four-foot square equipment vault similar to a PG&E utility vault. The vault will
have two metal hinged lids that bolt down and are covered with a nonslip surface pattern- The
vault will be installed less than one inch above the surrounding pavement, with a sloping concrete
lip to minimize any tripping hazard.
At the end of each work shift, any waste materials or debris generated during the field activities
will be removed and the work area will be cleaned. Upon completion of this field work, the
asphalt surface surrounding the piezometer, the extraction well vault, and the trench will be
restored to its original condition.
As you know, before LFR can perform the well installation work, we must obtain a well permit
from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division(SJC
PHS/EHD). To issue the permit, the SJC PHS/EHD must have written permission to conduct this
work from Lincoln Unified School District. Therefore, please sign the acknowledgment in the
space indicated below, and return the signed document to me via facsimile and in the enclosed,
self-addressed, postage paid envelope.
On behalf of the SDCDs, we again sincerely appreciate the granting of our request for access to
the Lincoln Elementary School parking lot to perform our environmental work. If you have any
questions or comments, please call me at (510) 596.9559, or Chris Alger at (510) 596-9683.
Sincerely,
Donald T.
