ARCADIS
These were provided to me by TEG Northern California who will conduct the drilling and soil gas sampling
and on-site analyses.
First, the rive probes shown are proposed on THREE parcels, and not the two as you noted on
Figure 3 of your plan.
Please see our response to no. 6 below.
1-1 need a well/probe diagram of the construction of the probes with materials listed/shown.
Please refer to the attached documents provided by TEG Northern California. The temporary borings will
be advanced using direct push drilling methods. The 1-inch diameter steel drill rods will be pushed to the
target depth. The soil gas sample tube will be pushed at the same time inside the drill rods. The drill rods
are pulled up to allow soil gas to enter the sample tube.A leak test will be performed. The sample tube will
be purged before collecting a soil gas sample. The soil gas sample will be analyzed immediately after
sample collection in the mobile lab. After sample collection and analysis is completed, the drill rods and
sample tubing will be pulled out of the ground. The temporary soil boring will be abandoned using cement
grout immediately after the drill robs and sample tubing are pulled out of the ground. If necessary and
requested by SJCEHD, the temporary soil boring may be left open until the grout inspector is available to
witness the abandonment procedure. All borings will be abandoned the same day they were advanced,
and no materials will be left in the temporary soil borings except for a disposable steel drill tip.
2-a description of the method of destruction and materials(cement grout, bentonite, etc)is
needed.
As noted above, the temporary soil borings will be abandoned using cement grout poured into the boring
after the drill rods and sample tubing are removed.
3- a statement WHEN these probes are to be removed/destroyed'is needed. (if NOT on the same
day as installed then see#4,)
The temporary soil borings will be abandoned the same day after drilling is completed, either immediately
after the drill rods and sample tubing are removed, or if necessary, as soon as the SJCEHD grout
inspector is available. No borings will be left open overnight.
4-a statement that includes the probes will remain in place and 111 need a description/schematic of
the method, materials, and procedures that will be used to install the traffic box that is required.
Probes left in place over-night are considered'wells'and as such, must be protected at the surface
with a secured box and seal, like any vapor, monitoring, or sparge well.
j YechdaRemg1g6790.hrucal .bas vhuWpvmlejtl,d dMing pgmitYev permit aro padrage ls4-torynano_sPm l —n W MWIO dm Page:
2/3
