Harding Lawson As8o618te5
8.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the work performed to date and our conclusion that a minimum
potential exists for adverse impacts to the groundwater, HLA recommends that no
further remediation subsurface exploration be co`nducted'at the`site and Breuners;
L: petition the SJCDEH and RWQCB for case closure. f A
To complete this project, HLA recommends that the soil stockpiles 11a disposed
and the excavation be backfilled. On the basis of the laboratory
a Y analysis of the stockpile
samples, HLA recommends that the soil be transported to the BFI Class III landfill in
Livermore, California, for disposal. q
The excavation should be backfilled with aggregate subbase material (ASB) to a
depth of approximately 8 to 10 inches below grade. The ASB should placed in thin lifts,
moisture conditioned and compacted to 90 percent or greater relative compaction. The
excavation should be brought to 2 inches below grade by placing 6.to 8 inches of
aggregate base material over the ASB and compacting it to a minimum 95 percent
relative compaction. Paving the backfilled excavation should be conducted by placing
and compacting approximately 2 inches of asphalt concrete over the base material.
A copy of this report should be submitted to the SJCDEH and RWQCB for
approval.
If the SJCDEH and RWQCB approve Breuners petition for case closure, and/or
HLA's recommendation for soil disposal and excavation backfilling, HLA can make the
'arrangements to have this work performed. HLA has presented costs to dispose the soil
stockpiles and backfill the excavation in a letter dated July 25, 1991.
T19461-H 19 of 20
