Message Page 4 of 4
Hi Mike..
I was on site at#172 today with Surban..l'd like to say all is well, but not quite. None of the traffic
boxes ANY well is in has bolts on the Iid..Anyone can just pull up on these lids and dump whatever
in them..Additionally, NONE of the top of ANY well casing has the SJCounty required "watertight"
(locking) cap on them..so once the steel lid is off, pouring any liquid could be poured down the
well....UNacceptable.
I wrote out an "Inspection notice"for the discrepancies....Surban has the original document...he had
to sign for it...
You've got TWO weeks to call me for an apt to RE-inspect the site...Give yourself enough time to
ensure ALL traffic boxes are bolted with at least TWO (2) bolts of the four possible and EACH PVC
well casing top has a screw-on type WATERPROOF lockable cap...Caps should be on tight enough
that just pulling on the lock WON'T pull it off.
On the better side, the grouting for all the boxes I looked at seem fine...good job on having the grout
inside into the boxes..keeps liquids from migrating down..Unfortunately, if gasoline, antifreeze,
tranny or engine oil gets into one with rain water(or wash down water), with the poor caps, this
liquid will enter the well and contaminate the subsurface soils and/or ground water..NOT what we
want at this site this point...
call me at 209-468-3454 if you need to talk..lf not, call me within 2-weeks (NLT 3-8-06)to schedule
the reinspection...
thanks..
here's a copy of the Inspection notice...
<<Scanned_.pdf>>
<<Scanned_.pdf>>
3/22/2006
