Stantec
June 8, 2010
Mr. Mike Infurna
ConocoPhillips Site No. 5449, Former Thrifty Oil Company Station No. 172
Page 2 of 2
i
petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater samples from some wells in April 2010 (after a period of non-
operation of the SVE/GWE systems)were sufficiently higher than those observed in 2008 and the first quarter
2009, further monitoring data may be required to establish representative groundwater conditions for the
HHRA. A deadline and scope for the HHRA can be discussed at the August 2010 meeting, after preliminary
third quarter results are available.
In addition, Stantec has received communication from Best California Gas, Ltd. indicating that site
redevelopment construction activities are scheduled to begin in August 2010. These activities will include
demolition of the existing building and construction of a new, larger building. In order to accommodate the
rebuild, the remediation compound will need to be relocated to the north, conveyance piping will need to be
relocated, and well MW-4 will need to be destroyed. Stantec requests the approval of the SJCEHD to
properly destroy MW-4 and evaluate the possible relocation of this well. Stantec will work with Best California
Gas, Ltd. to perform the rebound testing prior to planned construction, and relocate the remediation systems
as necessary.
We appreciate your assistance in working with us to move this site forward. If you have any questions or
comments regarding this project, please contact the undersigned at(916) 861-0400.
Sincerely,
STANTEC CONSULTING CORPORATION
i
Laura Shook
Geologic Associate
Diane Barclay, P.G.
Principal Geologist
Cc Ms. Shelby Lathrop, ConocoPhillips Company(via Livelink upload)
Larry Higinbotham, Thrifty Oil Company(via email)
