This case does not meet all of therequired criteria of the Policy.
Highlights of the case follow:
This case is an active mini-market and former commercial petrole m fueling facility. An
unauthorized release was reported in July 1991. Five USTs (four gasoline, one waste oil)were
removed and approximately 1,500 cubic yards of impacted soil were removed and disposed
offsite in 1995. Three gasoline USTs were removed and an unknown volume of contaminated
soil was excavated to a depth of 16 feet below ground surface (bgs) and removed in December
2007. Dual phase extraction was conducted between April 2001 and March 2009, which
removed 210,156 pounds of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg)vapor and
582,804 gallons of contaminated groundwater. Ozone sparging was conducted in 2009. Active
remediation has not been conducted for the past six years. Since 1991, 25 groundwater
monitoring wells have been installed and monitored; eight monitoring wells have been
abandoned. According to groundwater data, water quality objectives have not been achieved.
The petroleum release is limited to the soil and shallow groundwater. According to data
available in GeoTracker, there is one public water supply well approximately 200 feet west
(upgradient) of the projected plume boundary. Fivemile Creek lies immediately north of Site.
No other water supply wells have been identified within 1,000 fee}of the projected plume
boundary in files reviewed. The unauthorized release is located within the service area of a
public water system, as defined in the Policy. The affected shallow groundwater is not currently
being used as a source of drinking water, and it is highly unlikely that the affected shallow
groundwater will be used as a source of drinking water in the foreseeable future.
