The EHD had directed the submittal of a work plan to delineate the
groundwater plume down-gradient of monitoring well MW-22 by letter dated 19 May 2014.
In the Work Plan, Cardno proposes to install one monitoring well, screened in the deep zone at
approximately fifty-five to sixty feet below surface grade (bsg), based on soil lithology, using
eight-inch hollow-stem-auger equipment. The location of the proposed monitoring well is
illustrated on Figure 3 of the Work Plan.
The EHD approves the Work Plan, as submitted, which includes:
• Collecting soil samples from the borehole at five-foot intervals for lithologic evaluation;
• Submitting a minimum of two soil samples collected from the borehole for chemical
analysis of total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons (TPPH); benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether (ETRE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA);
• Hydrating the bentonite chips (the EHD directs that the bentonite chips be hydrated for
at least thirty minutes); and
• Submitting a report of findings approximately forty-five days following the installation of
the monitoring well and completing all field activities.
