Edward Ralston and Chris Panaitescu:
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed
Quarter Status Summary Report — First Quarter 2012, dated 12 April 2012, and Quarterly
Summary Report — Second Quarter 2012, dated 13 July 2012, submitted by your consulting
firm, ATC Associates Inc. (ATC), on your behalf for the above-referenced site. In the reports,
ATC has recommended the sampling frequency of monitoring wells MW-4R, and MW-13
through MW-17 be decreased from quarterly to semi-annually during the second and fourth
quarters of each year.
Monitoring well MW-17 was installed in February 2012 and groundwater was collected and
analyzed for chemicals of concern during the first and second quarters 2012. The EHD directs
that this well be sampled during the third and fourth quarters 2012 along with newly installed
monitoring wells MW-19 through MW-22. Analyze the samples for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX);
methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) and tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA). The EHD will consider
reducing the sampling frequency of these five wells upon receipt and review of the report of
findings following the last two sampling event in 2012.
The EHD approves the sampling frequency reduction from quarterly to semi-annually at
monitoring wells MW-4R, MW-13, MW-14 and MW-15, and from quarterly to annually at MW-16.
Analyze the groundwater samples for TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE and TBA.
By letter dated 27 March 2009, the END had approved the annual sampling of MW-5, MW-6,
MW-7 and MW-9; and by letter dated 07 August 2009, the EHD had approved the semi-annual
sampling of MW-3 and MW-12R. Continue sampling these wells as directed and analyze the
groundwater for TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE and TBA.
