JDR Environmental <br /> August 10, 1995 <br /> Mr Tim Johnson <br /> Tosco Northwest Company <br /> 601 Union St , Ste 2500 <br /> Seattle, WA 98101 <br /> RE, Well Abandonment Praiect <br /> Thrifty Service Station 172 <br /> 7647 Pacific Avenue <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Johnson <br /> This letter report is intended to document the results of the recent well abandonment <br /> project conducted at the above referenced site This report includes all pertinent <br /> information on the wells that were removed, including the onginal dnlling logs, former <br />• well completion details, permits for abandonment, and specifics regarding the <br /> abandonment procedures <br /> On July 11 and 12, 1995, JDR Environmental conducted the well abandonment program <br /> at the site The site is owned by Thrifty Oil Company and was operated as a self-service <br /> station by BP Oil The site is located at 7647 Pacific Avenue in the City of Stockton <br /> (Figure 1) This work was required by the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) as a preliminary task to site <br /> reconstruction The reconstruction activities will include removal of the existing tanks, <br /> replacement with new tanks in a separate but nearby area, and construction of a new <br /> market building The wells were located in areas that were targeted for these activities <br /> and there was concern that they might have been damaged dunng construction As a <br /> result, PHS/EHD requested removal of the wells prior to construction <br /> Six wells were abandoned as part of this scope of work, three vapor monitoring wells <br /> (VWA, VWB and VWC), and three groundwater monitoring wells (MW 1, MW2, and <br /> MW8) The vapor wells were installed in April 1994 as part of a site assessment <br /> investigation conducted by Thrifty Oil Company These wells were located in very close <br /> proximity to the tank cluster and were designed for use in a vapor extraction system The <br /> wells ranged in depth from 35 feet to 48 feet and were constructed of two-inch diameter <br /> PVC <br /> (310) 799-0084 7890 Spring St , Ste 15-H Long Beach, CA 90815 <br />
