r `
2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The objectives of the proposed scope of work are to further investigate the extent of impacted soil
and groundwater associated with the former 4,000-gallon UST and to remove the source of
r
continuing impact to groundwater beneath the site. To achieve these project objectives, a scope of
work consisting of the following five tasks is proposed:
i
1. Project Planning
2. Soil and Groundwater-Grab Sampling and Analysis
3. Source Removal by Excavation
4. Site Investigation and Source Removal Report
5. Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring, Sampling, Analysis and Reporting j
. I
2.1 Project Planning
The project planning task will include the preparation of a health and safety plan, acquisition of any
required permits, notification of scheduled field activity and a routine underground utility survey.
A site-specific health and safety Plan wilbe prepared in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120
,
(Appendix A). The health and safety plan includes safety procedures for-work to-be performed, '
chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and a medical emergency location.
ti
r
To perform the proposed scope of work, a soil boring permit will be obtained from San Joaquin 1
County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD). Since some of the
drilling will be conducted in the State Highway 99 right-of-way, an encroachment permit will be
obtained from Caltrans.
At least 48 hours prior to any field activities, PHS/EHD will be notified so that any inspections can
be scheduled. Underground Service Alert will also be notified to perform a utility clearance
inspection.
2.2 Soil and Groundwater-Grab Sampling and Analysis
To further investigate the lateral and vertical extent of impacted soil and the lateral extent of
impacted groundwater, soil and groundwater-grab samples will be collected for analysis from five
soil borings, advanced with a Geoprobe®direct-push drilling rig. To define soil and groundwater
4
conditions north of the former UST, three of the proposed soil boring will be located within the i
5
i
t
- I
