' Cone Penetrometer Testing, Monitoring Well Installation, and
• Second Quarter 2005 Monitoring Report
' Former PACIFIC AUTO CENTER
25355 North Highway 99, Acampo,California
1
1.0. INTRODUCTION
' At the request of Mr Pat Meeks of Meeks R V , Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has
prepared this report for 25355 North Highway 99, Acampo, California (the site) The San Joaquin
' County Environmental Health Department (EHD) had required by letter, dated 20 October 2003,
additional site assessment of the lateral and vertical extents of hydrocarbon-impacted ground water
associated with the former operation of underground storage tanks(USTs)at the site The scope of
' work included the advancement of one paired soil boring for cone penetrometer testing (CPT) and
installation of two additional ground water monitoring wells, in addition, this report includes the
results of the second quarter 2005 ground water monitoring event The site and surrounding area are
' illustrated on Figure 1 Structures, soil borings, and monitoring well locations are illustrated on
Figure 2 An expanded site plan including the locations of four down gradient domestic wells is
shown on Figure 3 Additional site background information is provided in Appendix A
2.0. PROCEDURES
'• Field work was conducted in accordance with guidelines established by the Central Valley Regional
Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) and the EHD for the subsurface investigation of UST
' sites and the sampling of ground water monitoring wells, respectively Cone penetrometer testing,
monitoring well installation, and sampling procedures are outlined in the AGE-prepared Cone
' Penetrometer Testing and Monitoring Well Installation WorkPlan, dated 15 July 2004 and approved
by the EHD in a letter dated 12 August 2004
21 CPT LITHOLOGIC INVESTIGATION
On 13 October 2004, one paired soil bonng was advanced at location CPT-I for cone penetrometer
testing At the boring location, lithologic data was collected from an initial CPT sounding utilizing
a piezocone(cone penetrometer with pore pressure measurement)tip,an immediately adjacent,twin
boring was then advanced to collect grab ground water samples from selected depths
I2 1 1 Advancement of CPT Borings
The CPT investigation utilized a 25-ton,truck-mounted CPT drill rig equipped with 2-inch diameter
Ihollow-stem rods A hydraulic ram was utilized to advance a piezocone attached to the hollow-stem
rod assembly to the total depth of 147 feet below surface grade(bsg) in the area of the former UST
location(Figure 2), a piezocone illustration is provided in Appendix B
Advanced Ccolnnronmental,Inc
I
