Bring gloves, 36 soil tubes/cans, teflon sheeting, zip lock bags, hand auger, breaker bar, sampling trowel, shovel, stakes, hip chain, and other measuring equip., decon equip., etc. Take detailed notes and make sure all sampling locations are identified on the map and measured to a fixed point for relocation in future.Practice good QA/QC and sampling techniques. Soil samples collected will be used to determine the salinity of Pond 2. Measure the dimensions of Pond 2, and layout the pond for ten sampling locations using a standard grid method. From each sampling location collect soil samples from depths of 2 feet, 5 feet and 10 feet into brass sampling tubes. Segregate each sample by placing into its own dedicated zip lock bag and labeling appropriately. Collect background samples at depths of 2, 5, and 10 feet south of Pond 2 (Goehring) and north of Pond 2 (Douglass) at approximate locations indicated on the site map. Make sure to'decontaminate the sampling equipment between each sample collected in order to limit the possibility of cross contamination. Since the contaminant is salt you can dispose of the decon water on the ground. The samples are to be transported to A&L Analytical in Modesto, anea�alyzed fof sodium, chloride,and Total Dissolved Solids utilizing the DI STLC WET method. , Take detailed notes and make sure all sampling locations are identified on map and measured to a fixed point for possible relocation in future.
