The report transmits the results of soil sampling conducted
at the Victor facility. The sampling was done to determine what actions would be appropriate for
closure of Pond 2. A single soil boring"DBI"was advanced to a depth of 46 feet with a hollow stem
auger; soil samples were collected at five-foot intervals from 15 to 45 feet. The boring was terminated
when groundwater was encountered at a depth of 44 feet.
The soil samples were analyzed by the DI WET extraction procedure for TDS, chloride and sodium."
The results of this study combined with the results of shallow soil samples collected in June/July 1999
indicate that there are elevated levels of TDS in soil to a depth of 20 feet. An acceptable closure plan for
this site must include a demonstration that the proposed closure to the pond area will prevent impacts to
groundwater from accumulated TDS in soils.
If you have any questions, please contact me at(916) 255-3814.
Ross D.
