The following tasks were discussed at the meeting:
I. Removal of the underground storage tanks this year.
2. Drill one deep boring to the static water level in Pond 2. If soil samples collected in the deep
boring are not impacted, Pond 2 can probably be closed with a cap to reduce rainwater
infiltration.
3. Clean close the Class II surface impoundment (Pond 1) per Title 27 regulations.
4. Properly abandon the underground injection well in accordance with the requirements of the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
5. Resumption of groundwater monitoring, quarterly sampling of all groundwater monitoring
wells is required by Revised Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 90-047, a part of your
facility Waste Discharge Requirements.
6. Replacement of the Marcus and Denise Warmerdam well. The Warmerdam property has
recently been sold and at the meeting it was uncertain if the new owner wants or needs a
replacement well. If the new owner wants a replacement well it will be your responsibility to
provide it.
7. Further evaluation and implementation of soil and groundwater cleanup will be temporarily
put on hold until the other issues are addressed.
Work plans to remove the underground storage tanks, drill and sample a deep boring at Pond 2, clean
close Pond 1, and abandon the underground injection well need to be approved by Board staff before
these activities can take place.
Please submit a time schedule complete tasks 1 through 5 by 28 April 2000.
In the near future you should initiate a conversation with the new owners of the Warmerdam property to
determine if they want a replacement well. If a well is not needed you should ask the new owner to send
a letter advising the board that one is no longer necessary. Until we receive notice that a replacement
well is no longer wanted the Order to provide one remains in effect.
California Environmental Protection Agency
04 Recycled Paper
