6100 N. Highway 99 March 4,2010
ARCO Station#595 page 2
sample PB-3-17' reported 2,200 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg). This area was over excavated to a depth of 21 feet below
surface grade (bsg), but stained soil and hydrocarbon odors were still observed. No soil
sample for laboratory analysis was collected from this depth.
Please proceed with submittal of a work plan to investigate the vertical extent of the
groundwater contamination, and the vertical and lateral extent of the contamination reported
during the removal of the UST's. The work plan is due for submittal to the EHD no later than
May 7, 2010.
Please note that Table 2: Historical Groundwater Gauging and Analytical Data has
erroneously reported 1,2-DCA results for wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5, MW-7 and MW-8
in the ethanol column. The data reported for 1,2-DCA, ethanol and EDB in MW-1 are all
mixed up; and it appears the reporting limits for ethanol and EDB are switched for many
wells also. These results are from wells which no longer exist at the site, but the data is
important in formulating the site conceptual model and determining all future actions needed
at the site. Please fix the table in all future reports.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Sincerely,
Lori Duncan, REHS Nuel C. Henderson, Jr., PG
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist Engineering Geologist
c: James Barton, CVRWQCB, 11020 Sun Center Drive #200, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
David Evans, ARCADIS, 950 Glenn Drive, Suite 125, Folsom, CA 95630
