Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
Section 3: Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan
3.1 Pre-Field Activities
The following pre-field activities will be performed prior to commencing fieldwork at the Winery.
1. Verify approval of the proposed monitoring well location(s) shown on Figure 4 has been
received from the CRWQCB.
2. All contractors will be required to prepare a site-specific Health and Safety Plan.
3. The Winery is located near the boundary of the City of Escalon. Drilling permits will be
obtained from San Joaquin County for the wells on site.
4. A utility clearance survey of the proposed boring locations will be performed prior to
drilling for potential location conflicts with subsurface utilities. The survey will be done by
contacting the Underground Service Alert (USA) system at least two working days
before the scheduled fieldwork. In addition, a private utility locator will use non-invasive
geophysical instruments to locate potential underground utilities.
5. Drilling contractor will have valid C-57 licenses.
6. A state-certified laboratory will be selected to conduct laboratory analytical services.
Following execution of the pre-field activities, a licensed professional engineer or geologist will
oversee the licensed drilling subcontractor to drill and install the monitoring wells.
3.2 Field Activities
The field activities described below is proposed for installation of the monitoring wells.
3.2.1 Monitoring Well Installation
3.2.1.1 Drilling
The boreholes will be drilled by a contractor licensed in California. The boring for the monitoring
well will be drilled using a hollow-stem auger drilling rig. In accordance with the Kennedy/Jenks
Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG) for Boring and Subsurface Soil Sampling (attached as
Appendix A), the borehole diameter will be at least 4-inches larger than the proposed well
casing to provide at least two inches of annular space between the well casing and borehole
wall. Continuous core will be collected for lithologic determination. The soil produced during the
drilling will be logged under the supervision of a professional geologist or engineer, in
accordance with the SOG for Borehole Logging (attached as Appendix B).
Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan, Page 3
Barrel Ten Quarter Circle Land Company, Escalon, California
\ISFDGrou psV S-GroupMrn in Wob1031030118.27_BTQC LCM-ReportsWW-I nsta II-WPINteAdoc
