1 <br /> ' 2.0 Scope of Work <br /> The scope of work for the investigation was presented in IT's work plans dated March 12,2002, <br /> and May 2, 2002, which were approved for implementation by Caltrans (IT, 2002a and 2002b). <br /> The following scope of work was conducted: <br /> 1 1. Planning and Permitting <br /> ' 2. Field Investigation <br /> 3. Laboratory Analyses <br /> ' 4. Investigation-Derived Waste Disposal <br /> 5. Site Investigation Report Preparation <br /> ' 2.1 Planning and Permitting <br /> ' Planning and permitting included a pre-work site visit, preparation of a workplan and health and <br /> safety plan, acquisition of required permits and the clearing of underground utilities prior to <br /> ' drilling activities. <br /> Martha Adams and Skye Hatton of IT and Michael Robinson of Caltrans conducted a pre-work <br /> site visit at the site on February 19, 2002. Locations for soil borings were observed, and the <br /> scope of work and objectives were discussed. <br /> ' A site-specific health and safety plan was prepared for both phases of work at the site (IT, 2002c <br /> and 2002d) in general accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 and Title 8, California Code of <br /> Regulations, Section 5192. The health and safety plan included safety procedures for work to be <br /> performed at the site, chemical hazard information, site safety officers, and preferred medical <br /> emergency locations. <br /> A drilling permit was obtained from the SJCEHD. An encroachment permit was obtained from <br /> ' Caltrans District 10 for this project. Copies of the permits are presented in Appendix A. <br /> ' A utility survey was conducted to determine if subsurface utilities or obstructions were present at <br /> boring locations. A high sensitivity metal detector, ground penetrating radar and dual frequency <br /> line locator was used to evaluate the presence of underground utilities and possible obstructions. <br /> ' Underground Service Alert(USA) was notified of the subsurface investigations at least 48 hours <br /> prior to commencement of field activities. <br /> ' -IIMCRWIICQWOWnDP1200MR,MJ8I83I83/7602N.Goc 2.1 <br />
