ARCADIS Ms. Lori Duncan
March 20, 2009
The soil types encountered were predominantly silts and silty clay with with sand and
gravel layers encountered at depths below 100 feet bgs. The boring log is included in
Attachment 3.
Soil Sampling
Soil samples were collected using a California-modified split spoon sampler. The
samples were logged for soil characteristics and screened for the presence of volatile
organic compounds (VOC)using a photo-ionization detector(PID). Sixteen soil
samples were collected. The soil sample collected at 115 feet bgs was not submitted
for analysis due to the presence of gravel, and the soil sample collected at 130 feet
bgs was not submitted for analysis due to poor recovery. A total of fourteen soil
samples were submitted to the laboratory for analysis.
Soil Analytical Data
The 14 soil samples were packed on ice, cooled to approximately 4 degrees
centigrade, and shipped, under appropriate chain-of-custody protocols, to Lancaster
Laboratories Incorporated (Lancaster)of Lancaster, Pennsylvania for analysis. The
analytical reports and chains-of-custody documentation are presented in Attachment 4.
Soil samples were analyzed for the presence of the following constituents:
• TPH-GRO (C6-C12), TPH-DRO(C10-C28), total petroleum hydrocarbons as
motor oil (TPH-MO)(C16-C36), and methanol by United States Environmental
Protection Agency(USEPA) Method 8015
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene; and total xylenes (BTEX) by USEPA
Method 8260
• Tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), ethyl tertiary .
butyl ether(ETRE), tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME), di-isopropyl ether
(DIPE), 1,2-DCA, 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB), and ethanol by USEPA Method
8260
Soil Analytical Results
TPH-G, TPH-MO, benzene, MTBE, ETBE, TAME, DIPE, EDB and ethanol
concentrations were below MDLs in all 14 soil samples submitted for chemical
analysis. TPH-DRO, methanol, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes, and TBA were
Page:
\Xerac ofiicedata%Sacrememo-CA\EMACHEVRONOW75%DeVwr&nVZepadsWssessment AddmxVmNx&W75 Re Assessment Addendum Repml_282910950.doc 4/7
