W <br /> Taber <br /> y Since 7934 <br /> 1 P2/399/245-4 <br /> Site Safety Officer is to contact the company Health and Safety Coordinator for <br /> evaluation of changing PPE requirements and/or revised scope of work. <br /> '-` Personnel are to stay upwind of dust sources to avoid exposure to dust. <br /> • Disposable, chemical resistant gloves (e.g. nitrile) are to be worn during sample <br /> handling and other procedures that might result in contact with the soil. <br /> • Contact lenses will not be worn in the field operation area. <br /> Work will be done during the daylight hours only. <br /> • Site activities will not be conducted during lightning storms or weather that <br /> Ld could impede awareness of potential hazards. <br /> 6.4 DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES <br /> 6.4.1 DECONTAMINATION AREA <br /> The decontamination area must be established at a sufficient distance from the <br /> excavation locations to preclude contamination by splashing water or flying dirt. For this <br /> project, the decontamination area should be established within the restricted work area <br /> and site entry limitations would apply (see section 6.1, above). <br /> 6.4.2 E UIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> The excavation and sampling tools will be cleaned before transport out of the work <br /> area. Equipment decontamination procedures and disposal of waste materials are <br /> described in the work plan. <br /> 6.4.3 PERSONNEL DECONTAMINATION <br /> Remove and dispose of disposable gloves. Wash hands and face with soap and <br /> hwt water. Clean non-disposable equipment used. Take a shower and wash hair as soon as <br /> possible after leaving the site. <br /> +�.• 7.0 EMERGENCY RESPONSE AND CONTINGENCY PROCEDURES <br /> In the event of a catastrophe (fire, explosion, chemical release) or severe (life- <br /> threatening) medical emergency, emergency actions will be implemented by qualified field <br /> personnel. Appropriate response actions to be taken by field personnel involved in the <br /> emergency include the alerting everyone on the site of the emergency situation; <br /> evacuating the site, stopping the release, if possible and safe; requesting outside <br /> assistance, as necessary; and extinguishing small fires, if safe to do so; rendering first-aid; <br /> notifying local authorities; and transporting injured persons, if appropriate. <br /> 7 <br />
