7.3 Agricultural Commissioner's Records
Live Oak contacted the San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office
regarding agricultural use of the site. According to Hiromi Hernandez of that
office, the Site has been used to grow almonds, alfalfa, wheat, and tomatoes
during the past five years. A variety of agricultural chemicals have been applied
to the Site during that time, as indicated on the attached table in Appendix 4
(personal communication, November 22, 2019).
7.4 Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources Maps
The California Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR)
Well Finder website was queried on December 3, 2019 for mapped oil or gas
wells within one-quarter mile of the subject Site. According to DOGGR, the Site
is located between the Union Island, Roberts Island, and Lathrop gas fields
(Plate 7). One gas well was identified on the Site, a plugged, dry hole identified
as the Towne Exploration Company's "Bomberger" 1 (API 0407720059). The
well was drilled and abandoned in 1968; pertinent records are attached in
Appendix 6.
Four additional gas wells were identified within approximately one-quarter mile of
the Site:
• Gary Drilling Company "Bomberger" 1, a plugged, dry hole, located
approximately one-quarter mile west of the Site.
• Occidental Petroleum Corporation "Mobil Parcel V 1, a plugged, dry hole,
located approximately one-quarter mile south of the Site.
• TXO Production Corp. "A. Lucas" 1, a plugged, water disposal well located
approximately one-quarter mile south of the Site. It appears based on
records on file at DOGGR that this well was converted into an injection
well in 1976; fluids were to be injected below 3,645 feet. The well was
abandoned in 1988.
• Arcady Oil Company "Woods" 36-1, a plugged, dry hole, located
approximately one-quarter mile east of the Site.
Gas well development can generate brine and hazardous materials. These fluids
are often disposed in injection wells. The well on the Site and those on the
surrounding properties were drilled and abandoned under the oversight of
DOGGR. Environmental risks are present with any well drilling or drilling fluid
disposal; however, no evidence was encountered to indicate specific
contamination that would affect the Site as a result of past gas well operations.
LOGE 1949 6
