Carlson • • Project No. 1232
October 18, 1999
Page 2
On October 18, 1999, the UST Fund verbally notified us that before they can approve installing
the noise abatement equipment, they need a letter from the City of Stockton stating that the
noise generated by the system exceeds the City noise standards, and that mitigation of the noise
is required. Until the noise abatement equipment has been installed, Montgomery Ward can
not operate the remediation system and be in compliance with the City noise standard.
We have verbally discussed this issue with Michael Niblock of your staff and Dale Hi es of
the Building Department, and both suggested that we forward this letter to you along with the
enclosed check for $25 to cover the administrative costs associated with this matt r. if
additional fees are required, please let us know. Your assistance on this matter will be eatly
appreciated, as the County is anxious for Montgomery Ward to begin operating the syste .
Please call the undersigned at 714/632-821 extension 240 or Steve Bright at extension 224 if
you have any questions or additional information is required.
Sincerely,
ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT, INC.
Boris Stolin, P.E.
Manager, Environmental Engineering
BS:SAB:sh
enclosure: EAI Check No. 2343
cc: Ed Koberstein, Montgomery Ward (w/enclosure)
Mark Gilmartin, Esq.
