(EAI)submitted to the San Joaquin County
Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (County), on behalf of
Montgomery Ward,a Corrective Action Plan(CAP)to remediate impacted soil and ground
water associated with the above-referenced site. On August 12, 1998, the County
approved the CAP. In December 1998,the State of California UST Cleanup Food pre.
approved costs associated with implementing the County approved CAP.
Based on data available from the December 1998 ground water sampling and testing event,
and EAI's recent experience at other sites with maintenance of deep air sparging wells
containing a packer,EAI is proposing to modify the design of selected air sparging and
vapor extraction wells and to perform air sparging at three additional site wells. These
changes are not significant and are intended to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of
the remedial system.
1.0 MODIFICATION OF AIR SPARGING/VAPOR EXTRACTION WELLS
(Wells VEW-6A/B through VEW-13A/B)
EAI proposes to install a separate air sparging well and vapor extinction weBbt one boring
(see Figure l attached hereto) instead of using one deep well screened in locations
with a packer between them and a separate shallow vapor ranaction well(asdcscribed on
PLWMWG,ENYIRONMENTALANALYSES AND
HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES MANAGEMENT AND REMEDIATION
