ERI
ENVIRONMENTAL RESOLUTIONS, INC.
May 11, 1999
ERI 227903.L16
Mr. Michael J. Infurna Jr.
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Avenue
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Update of Environmental Investigation at Former Unocal Service Station 5098,
5606 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California.
Mr. Infurna:
At the request of Union Oil Company of California (Unocal), Environmental Resolutions, Inc. (ERI) is
submitting the enclosed site information to update the San Joaquin County Public Health Department,
Environmental Health Division (the County) of the status of the supplemental environmental
investigation at the subject site. Although drilling activities began in January 1999, the locations of
proposed groundwater monitoring wells MW21S, MW21D, MW22S, and MW22D had to be moved to
the Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. (Firestone) property located at 5545 Pacific Avenue due to the presence
of underground utilities beneath the former proposed well locations. The new locations of the wells are
shown on the attached Generalized Site Plan. The completion of the field work was temporarily
delayed while Unocal obtained an access agreement to drill at the Firestone property.
Field work at the site including the installation of wells MW21S, MW21D, MW22S, and MW22D, and
Hydropunch®boring HPI is scheduled to continue after business hours on May 18 through 20, 1999.
Boring HPl is located in the City of Stockton right-of-way in the intersection of Robinhood Drive and
Pacific Avenue as shown on the attached Generalized Site Plan. Field work and well construction will
be completed in accordance with the Work Plan for Supplemental Environmental Investigation (ERI
November 12, 1998) and the Addendum to Work Plan (ERI December 9, 1998) for the site.
Please find enclosed a Generalized Site Plan showing the revised locations of wells MW21S, MW21D,
MW22S, and MW22D, a copy of Unocal's access agreement with Firestone, a copy of the City of
Stockton encroachment permit and permit extension to drill boring HPI, a permit application to drill at
the Firestone property, and a check for the permit fee.
i
73 Digital Drive, Suite 100, Novato, California 94949-5791 415-382-9105 (FAX 415-382-1856)
Lake Forest • Novato • Seattle
