1,0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1.1 purpose <br /> This document is the Health and Safety Plan (HASP) Lor site <br /> assessment activities associated with the Montgomery Ward Auto <br /> Service Center (Ward) farility locaced at 5400 Pacific Avenue, <br /> Stockton, California. The HASP describes equipment, procedures <br /> and other requirements necessary to ensure the safety of all <br /> individuals on the site, to the degree feasible, during assess- <br /> ment activities. The information contained herein does not- <br /> represent <br /> otrepresent all safety rules and regulations of the occupationil <br /> Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other local <br /> governmental agencies. This HASP is to be used as a supplement <br /> to such rules and regulations. <br /> 1.2 Aa_r-k-qK_0und <br /> on June 26, 1986, two 10,000 gallon underground gasoline <br /> storage tanks were removed from the site. In May 1988, A.D. <br /> selditch & Associates, Inc. (ADS) drilled and sampled five <br /> borings at the site. Detectable concentrations of total petro- <br /> leum hydrocarbons (TPIDranging from 8 parts per million (ppm) <br /> . 1 <br /> to 38 PPM, were - jantered in three of the samples tested. <br /> Total lead concc—rations ranging from 6 ppm to 36 ppm also were <br /> present in the samples tested. <br /> 1.3 Scope <br /> The health and safety requirements presented in this <br /> document are based on information available from site records <br /> regarding contaminants known to be present at the site, and an <br /> analysis of potential hazards associated with drilling and <br /> sampling activities- The HASP provides an overview of hazards <br /> and establishes worker safety. <br /> 2.0 AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> Environmental Audit, Inc. (EAI) has primary responsibility <br /> for the health and safety of its employees during the work <br /> outlined in Section 3.0.
