The
laboratory performed analysis via modified EPA Method TO-15 using GC/MS in the full scan mode. The
method involves concentrating up to 50 mLs of air. The concentrated aliquot is then flash vaporized and
swept through a water management system to remove water vapor. Following dehumidification, the
sample passes directly into the GC/MS for analysis.
This workorder was independently validated prior to submittal using 'USEPA National Functional
Guidelines' as generally applied to the analysis of volatile organic compounds in air. A rules-based, logic
driven, independent validation engine was employed to assess completeness, evaluate pass/fail of relevant
project quality control requirements and verification of all quantified amounts.
Receivine Notes
Samples SV-1 and SV-1D were received with significant vacuum remaining in the canister. The residual
canister vacuum resulted in elevated reporting limits.
Analytical Notes
A single point calibration for TPH referenced to Gasoline was performed for each daily analytical batch.
Recovery is reported as 100% in the associated results for each CCV.
THE WORKORDER WAS REISSUED ON OCTOBER 29, 2010 TO REPORT TOP TEN TICS
(TENTATIVELY IDENTIFIED COMPOUNDS) FOR SAMPLE SV-1 PER CLIENT'S REQUEST.
' DUE TO MATRIX INTERFERENCE IN THE TOTAL ION CHROMATOGRAM INTERNAL
STANDARD CHLOROBENZENE-D5 WAS NOT USED TO CALCULATE CONCENTRATION OF
TICS IN SAMPLE SV-1 .
DATA WAS REPORTED AS TPH-G, HOWEVER THE HYDROCATBON PROFILE DID NOT
MATCH THAT OF GASOLINE. THE PROFILE IS DOMINATED BY LIGHTER C5 AND C6
HYDROCARBONS REPORTED AS TENTATIVELY IDENTIFIED COMPOUNDS.
Definition of Data Oualifvine Flaes
Eight qualifiers may have been used on the data analysis sheets and indicates as follows:
B - Compound present in laboratory blank greater than reporting limit(background subtraction not
performed).
J - Estimated value.
E- Exceeds instrument calibration range.
S - Saturated peak.
' Q -Exceeds quality control limits.
U-Compound analyzed for but not detected above the reporting limit.
