Corrective Action Plan <br /> Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center, Stockton, CA <br />' APPENDIX A <br /> SUMMARY OF SITE ASSESSMENTS <br /> All references to figures and tables in this appendix refers to the figures and tables in the <br /> main text <br />' WASTE OIL UST REMOVAL (1986) <br /> On August 28, 1986, one 550-gallon capacity waste oil underground storage tank (UST) <br />' was removed from the Montgomery Ward Site (see Figure 2) One soil sample was - <br /> collected from beneath the UST by Canome Environmental Services Corp (Canome) and <br /> tested for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) using EPA Method 8015, purgeable <br /> aromatics using EPA Method 8020, purgeable halocarbons using EPA Method 8010, and <br />' polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) using EPA Method 8080 No TPH, purgeable aromatics <br /> or PCBs were detected in the sample Trichlorofluoromethane (0 05 parts per million <br /> [ppm]) was the only purgeable halocarbon detected Based on these testing results, no <br />' additional assessment activities are required in this area of the Montgomery Ward Site <br /> BULK OIL UST REMOVALS (1988) <br /> On June 22, 1988, four bulk oil USTs (two 1,000-gallon and two 500-gallon capacity) <br /> were removed from the Montgomery Ward Site (see Figure 2) Two soil samples were <br /> collected from beneath each UST by Canonic and tested for TPH, and benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) No TPH or BTEX were detected in any of the samples <br /> tested Based on these testing results, no additional assessment activities are required in <br /> this area of the Montgomery Ward Site <br />' GASOLINE UST REMOVALS (1986) <br /> On June 26, 1986, two 10,000-gallon capacity gasoline USTs were removed from the <br /> Montgomery Ward Site (see Figure 2) The USTs were used to store regular and unleaded <br /> gasoline A representative of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department <br /> (SJCPHSD) was reportedly on-site during USTs removal activities The underground <br /> product lines were triple rinsed, stubbed and abandoned in place A concrete slab on <br /> which the USTs were located was also abandoned in place at a depth of approximately 12 <br /> feet bgs <br /> PHASE I INVESTIGATION (1988) <br /> In May 1988, A D Selditch & Associates, Inc (ADS) drilled and sampled five borings <br /> on the Montgomery Ward Site to determine whether any release had occurred in the former <br /> vicinity of the gncnline TNTC (cee T7i- «o '1� r s a__ i_ ., <br /> gni1"e �./ t our of the Uod ings " orings 1 inrougll 4) <br /> were located in the former area of the gasoline USTs, and one boring (boring 5) was <br /> located in the west corner of the Montgomery Ward Site to determine background soil <br /> conditions Borings 1 and 2, located at the southwest and southeast corners of the USTs, <br /> respectively, were drilled to a depth of 20 feet below ground surtace (bgs) Borings 3 and <br /> 4 encountered auger refusal at 12 feet bgs, i e , the slab on which the USTs had been <br /> located was apparently encountered <br /> Project No 1232 A - 1 <br /> SAB WORD 1232 AA <br />
