5 2 GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' The ground water samples were tested for TPH-G using modified EPA Method 8015,
BTXE using EPA Method 602, and purgeable halocarbons using EPA Method 601 The
results of the testing are shown on Table 4 The laboratory reports are contained in
Appendix E.
6.0 DISCUSSION
1
6 1 SOIL
' The analytical testing results of the soil samples obtained from borings drilled as part
of this investigation show that TPH-G concentrations ranging from 6.9 to 3,110 ppm were
encountered The highest concentrations of TPH-G were detected in samples collected
from boring location MW-2 at depths ranging between 20 and 60 feet bgs Elevated
concentrations also were detected in the samples collected from borin B-11 between 40
and 50 feet bgs TPH-G was detected only in only one sample (MW-1 9a 45 feet) collected
from boring MW-1. BTXE also were detected in many samples. Several chlorinated
hydrocarbons not associated with gasoline were detected at selected sample locations, e g ,
tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethane (TCE), and 1,1,1-tnchloroethane (1,1,1-TCA).
The source of these chlorinated hydrocarbons is unknown.
' 6 2 GROUND WATER
TPH-G, BTXE and 1,2-dichloroethane were detected in the ground water samples
collected from the wells The benzene and 1,2-dichloroethane concentrations detected in
the water samples collected from the wells exceed the action levels established by the state
for drinking water.
7.0 LIMITATION
Our professional services have been performed using that degree of care and skill
ordinarily exercised, under similar circumstances, by reputable environmental consultants
practicing in this or similar localities This report has been prepared for Montgomery
Ward No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional advice
contained in this report.
Project No. 1232 7 ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT,INC®
