solvents for dissolving or softening rubber, oils, greases,
bituminous paints, varnishes, and plastics. The less flammable
fractions are used in dry cleaning, while the heavy naphthas are
used as bases for insecticides.
7 . 0 CONCLUSIONS
Based upon the data contained herein, EAI makes the
following conclusions:
' -- Ground water was not encountered in any of the four
borings drilled during this investigation to a depth of
30 feet bgs.
' - No significant levels of petroleum hydrocarbons were
present in soil samples collected from borings B-7 , B-8
and B-10.
' - Elevated concentrations of TPH, toluene, ethylbenzene and
xylenes were detected in soil samples collected from
' boring B-9 at depths of 15 , 20, 2 5 and 30 feet bgs. No
benzene was detected.
- Odors from the soil samples and gas chromatography
analysis suggest that the profile of the hydrocarbons in
boring B-9 as heavy naptha. It does not appear that the
source of hydrocarbons in boring B-9 at depths ranging
' from 15 to 30 feet is gasoline or diesel.
1
' Project No. 1232 -8-
ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT,INC®
