Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
with total depths that range from 68 to 296 feet bgs. The depths of first water encountered
ranged from 18 to 50 feet bgs.
2.2.1.2 Groundwater Sampling and Analysis
Tables 5 and 6 present historical analytical data for groundwater samples collected from the
production wells. The constituents that were analyzed are: hardness as CaCO3, total alkalinity
as CaCO3, EC, TDS, calcium (Ca), Mg, Na, bicarbonate (HCO3),SO4,CI, NO3 as N, manganese
(Mn), and dibromochloropropane (DBCP).
Perforated casing depth information is available for some of the production and irrigation wells
(see Table 2). In the case of the three wells for which perforation depths are available, these
wells will be sampled if a pump does not need to be removed from the well casing. Perforation
depths will need to be researched for the remaining production and irrigation wells in order to
determine whether these wells will be sampled. If the screen lengths are determined to be less
than 20 feet, then the wells may be considered for sampling.
Groundwater samples from the production and irrigation wells may be analyzed for pH, specific
conductivity, TDS, Total Nitrates as N, and standard minerals, as specified in Revised MRP
No. 95-097.
2.2.2 Monitoring Wells
The Wine Group has constructed three groundwater monitoring wells to monitor groundwater
beneath the Facility: MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3. The locations of the monitoring wells are
depicted in Figure 2, and copies of the monitoring well construction logs are provided in
Appendix A. The construction details for the three monitoring wells are summarized in Table 3
and are briefly summarized below.
2.2.2.1 Well Construction Details
Monitoring well MW-1 was constructed of 4-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC with 0.020-inch
slotted screen sections from 50 to 80 feet bgs. The filter pack consists of Lonestar#3 sand, and
a sanitary seal composed of approximately 5 feet of bentonite chips topped by cement. The well
is protected by a standpipe and concrete base.
Monitoring well MW-2 was constructed of 4-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC with 0.010-inch
slotted screen sections from 50 to 80 feet bgs. The filter pack consists of Lonestar#3 sand, and
a sanitary seal composed of approximately 5 feet of bentonite chips topped by cement. The well
is protected by a standpipe and concrete base.
Monitoring well MW-3 was constructed of 2-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC with 0.020-inch
slotted screen sections from 35.5 to 55.5 feet bgs. The filter pack consists of Lonestar#3 sand,
_ and a sanitary seal is composed of approximately 2.5 feet of bentonite chips topped by cement.
The well is protected by a flush-cover monument.
_ Groundwater Protection Work Plan, The Wine Group Page 2-2
Franzia Winery, Ripon, California
-a1..4'Ldl
