Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
3.3.3 Groundwater Sampling
An initial sampling of groundwater will be conducted from the two monitoring wells no sooner
than 72 hours after the newly installed wells have been developed. Groundwater sampling will
be performed in accordance with the SOG for Groundwater Sampling found in the SAP
(Appendix C). Groundwater will be purged from the monitoring wells prior to sampling to acquire
samples representative of aquifer conditions. Field parameters pH, temperature, and specific
conductance will be monitored during purging to document stabilization. The parameters will be
•- measured in accordance with Kennedy/Jenks' SOG for Field Measurement of pH, Temperature,
and Specific Conductance found in the SAP (Appendix C). Field parameters will be recorded on
the Groundwater Purge and Sample Form (a copy of the form is provided in the SAP). The
groundwater level will be measured according to Kennedy/Jenks' SOG for Measuring
Groundwater Levels also found in the SAP.
The groundwater samples will be collected using a disposable bailer or using a positive
_ displacement pump. One duplicate sample will be collected during each sampling event, in
accordance with Appendix C. Purge water will be distributed on the ground or in the LAA at the
_ Facility.
Following collection, groundwater samples will be labeled, packed in appropriate containers,
and forwarded to a state-certified laboratory under a completed chain-of-custody record in
accordance with Kennedy/Jenks' SOG for Sample Packaging and Shipping found in the SAP.
The laboratory will follow their normal turn-around time and internal quality assurance/quality
control (QA/QC) procedures during the analysis.
Samples will be analyzed for:
Nitrate as nitrogen (EPA Method 300 Series)
Total Kjeldahl nitrogen (EPA Method 351.4)
Chloride (EPA Method 300 Series)
• Sulfate (EPA Method 300 Series)
• Electrical conductivity (EPA Method 120.1)
• pH (EPA Method 150.1)
Iron (EPA Method 200.7)
• Manganese (EPA Method 200.7)
• Sodium (EPA Method 200.7)
Potassium (EPA Method 200.7)
• Magnesium (EPA Method 200.7)
• Total dissolved solids (EPA Method 160.1)
• Biochemical oxygen demand (EPA Method 405.1)
_ The sample and analysis methods, preservatives, and holding times for the analyses are
presented in Table 8.
Groundwater monitoring of the two new monitoring wells will then be incorporated into the
existing MRP.
Groundwater Protection Work Plan, The Wine Group Page 3-5
Franzia Winery, Ripon, California
