The work plan was prepared to characterize groundwater quality
prior to submittal of a Report of Waste Discharge (RWD) as requested by staff in a 6 March
2008 meeting. The RWD will be submitted to update Delicato's Waste Discharge
Requirements and add 90 acres of new land application area for wastewater application. I
have the following comments:
• Although proposed Well MW-4 is located at the upgradient edge of the 60-acre land
application area, once wastewater application begins on the LAA, groundwater at the well
will likely be impacted by the wastewater application. Therefore once land application of
waste begins, Well MW4 will not be appropriate for determination of background
groundwater quality. An additional monitoring well may be required.
• No wells were proposed for the areas downgradient of the new land application areas.
Please add a groundwater monitoring well downgradient of each of the new land
application areas.
Please submit a workplan addendum to address the items discussed above. You may submit
the addendum consistent with your schedule, but allow 30-days for review prior to beginning
work. If you have any questions on this conditional approval, please telephone me at
(916) 464-4616.
TIMOTH R.
