KennedyJenks Consultants
Section 3: Proposed Groundwater Monitoring Locations and
Rationale
Delicato plans to expand the land application area to include four additional non-contiguous,
Delicato-owned parcels shown on Figure 2. The southernmost parcel is 60 acres and three
parcels are located between the southern parcel and the current land applications areas: a
western 30-acre parcel, a northwestern 6-acre parcel, and a northeastern 15-acre parcel.
3.1 Background Monitoring Well
One monitoring well is proposed, upgradient of the most upgradient parcel, to collect
background groundwater data.
The gradient direction based on the existing monitoring well network has historically been north,
north/northwest, or north/northeast. The groundwater gradient direction at the Site conforms to
the local, northward, overall regional gradient direction in October 2007, based on data
presented in California Department of Water Resources website:
hftp://wdl.water.ca.gov/qw/map/quad mat).cfm?rgpr=1215,375&type=move&QuadX=1212&Qua
dY=378&Mai)Tvpe=GW), and spring 2004 data from the San Joaquin County Flood Control
District (hftp://www.sjmap.org/groundwater/). The Site gradient and local regional gradient
indicated the proposed additional land application areas are hydraulically upgradient to
crossgradient of the existing monitoring wells and land application areas.
The local groundwater gradient direction data indicates the proposed 60-acre parcel is
hydraulically upgradient of the other two proposed parcels, and so a background monitoring
point for the new land application areas should be sited on the hydraulically upgradient edge of
the 60-acre parcel. Given the overall northward gradient direction, an upgradient well should be
placed on the south side, preferably the southwest corner, of the parcel. Delicato does not own
land south of this parcel, so the parcel's southern edge is as far upgradient as Delicato can
place a well.
Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan Page 3
Delicato Family Vineyards, Manteca, California
g,us mwudmnyoba7o765001.OQ_derKM%09 vtM mstNiwrkpinu.Ak
