PACIFIC
ENVIRONMENTAL
GROUP INC.
July 17, 1996
Project 320-135.7C
Mr. Brett Hunter
Chevron Products Company
P.O. Box 5004
San Ramon, California 94583-0804
Re: Corrective Action Plan Addendum
Chevron Service Station 9-6171
6633 Pacific Avenue at Benjamin Holt Drive
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Hunter:
Pacific Environmental Group, Inc. (PACIFIC) has been perfonning environmental services
at the referenced site on behalf of Chevron Products Company (Chevron). One compo-
nent of these services has been the preparation of a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) dated
.April 4, 1995. Comments regarding the CAP were received from San Joaquin County
Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD), modifications were
made, and a revised CAP was issued on June 29, 1995. In a letter dated April 23, 1996,
PHS/EHD requested an addendum to the revised CAP in order to provide clarifications
regarding several issues related to groundwater monitoring at the site; these issues were
presented in a letter from PHS/EHD dated April 11, 1996. This CAP addendum has been
prepared in order to address the comments presented in the April 11, 1996 letter.
In the April 1 l, 1996 letter, PHS/EHD requested: (1) that all groundwater samples be
analyzed for MtBE for at least one additional groundwater monitoring event; (2) a
summary of well construction details and an evaluation of the current monitoring capabili-
ties; and (3) a list of parameters that would be used to monitor the remediation through
natural processes. Each of the issues of concern and an explanation addressing each issue
are presented below.
Issue 1: The grotm healer samples collected on November 5, 1995 did not undergo
A11BE• analyvi.v. Please note that general!), fivo roundv of analysis are neces.vw), to
co??firm analytical results; therefore, the next round of samples collected should undergo
A4tBE analyvis.
Groundwater samples will be analyzed for MtBE, this analysis began with the May 12,
1996 groundwater monitoring event. During the May 12, 1996 event, no MtBE was
2025 Gateway Place, Suite 440, San Jose, California 95110 (408)441-7500 FAX (408) 441-7539 .
