(Gettler-Ryan),to describe groundwater monitoring performed at the subject site on May 12,
1996.
During their May site visit Gettler-Ryan gauged and sampled all six wells. All groundwater samples were
analyzed for the presence of TPHGas,BTEX constituents, and MTBE. The measured direction of
groundwater flow was southeasterly. The flow direction was consistent with previous measurements.
Detections of TPHGas were reported at five of the six wells. However, the reported detections were based
on the presence of discrete peaks within the C6-C8 range. It is suspected that these discrete peaks are
associated with chlorinated compounds that are known to exist in groundwater beneath the subject site.
There were detections of BTEX constituents measured at well MW-2.Detectable concentrations of MTBE
(8.4 ppb)were only measured at well MW-6. The results of subsequent monitoring events will be
evaluated to verify the presence of this constituent.
In your letter dated April 11, 1996,you requested information regarding monitoring well completion
details and an evaluation of current monitoring capabilities. Those details are provided on the attached
page. The information regarding groundwater monitoring capabilities will be provided in Pacific
Environmental Group's addendum to their April 4, 1995 Corrective Action Plan,as was requested in your
letter dated April 23, 1996. The addendum will be submitted to your agency on or before July 19, 1996.
If you have any questions or comments, I can be reached at(510)842-8695.
Sincerely,
xe
Brett L.
