The groundwater conditions were consistent with those observed during.previous
monitoring events.
Pacific Environmental Group,Inc. submitted their Report of Removal of Underground Facilities dated
September 14, 1998. The report documents findings of soil sampling that was performed during the removal
of underground facilities in December 1997 and January 1998.Results were also presented for soil
sampling that was performed in limited overexcavations. In general, the sampling results showed residual
hydrocarbons to be present along the southerly product piping trench, the north side of the UST complex,
and beneath the former waste oil UST.Conductor casings were installed to facilitate the vertical definition
of contamination in these areas after service station construction was completed:During construction an
apparent groundwater well wasdiscovered and protected.Initial results from groundwater sampling at-this
location-indicate contaminant conditions similar,to other site-related wells completed across the first water
bearing zone.
Pacific Environmental Group,Inc. submitted their Work Plan for Additional Soil and Groundwater
Investigation dated September 17, 1998.The work plan describes field activities and sampling protocol
associated with the vertical investigation through three conductor casings. The work plan also-discusses
sampling for waste oil constituents at the recently discovered groundwater well.
Fourth quarter activities planned for the subject, site include groundwater monitoring.Beginning fourth
quarter;all groundwater monitoring at the subjct site will be performed by Blaine Tech Services.
If you have any questions or comments,I can be reached at(510)842-8695.
Sincerely,
AtA
Brett L.Hunter
Environmental Engineer
Site Assessment and Remediation
