Teported the maximum concentration of O & G at 25,000 mg/kg The maximum VOC
(tetrachloroethene at 160 ppb) was detected in WO-2 Benzene and lead were not detected
in either WO-1 or WO-2
On January 8, 1998, over-excavation and sampling activities at waste oil tank 1 were
observed and approved by Ms Lagono The waste oil tank 1 pit was over-excavated due
to high levels of petroleum hydrocarbons confirmed by laboratory analyses in shallow soil
Over-excavation and sampling activities were conducted from approximately 11 to 17-1/2
feet bgs A map illustrating approximate lateral limits of the over-excavation is presented
as Figure 5 The maximum concentration of TPH-g was reported from sample WO-1 at
170 mg/kg at I 1 feet bgs Unidentified hydrocarbons quantified as TPH-d were reported
from all samples with the maximum concentration reported from sample WO-i at 5,300
mg/kg The maximum concentration of O & G was 9,400 mg/kg reported from WO-W at
I 1-1/2 feet bgs VOCs results reported the maximum concentrations of acetone,
tetrachloroethene, and cis-1,2-Dichloroethene at 900, 1,500 and 2,200 ppb, respectively,
from WO-C at 17-1/2 feet bgs A single SVOC, 1,2-Dichlorobenzene was detected at ,
2,200 ppb from WO-N at 12 feet bgs CAM 5 metals results reported the maximum
concentrations of chromium, nickel, and zinc at 34, 31, and 44 mg/kg respectively, from
WO-C at 17-1/2 feet bgs Benzene, MtBE, PCBs, and lead were not detected in any of the
over-excavation samples VOCs, SVOCs, PCBs, and CAM 5 metals results are presented
in Attachment B
On January 19, 1998, Wendt discovered an additional steel waste oil tank, hereafter
referred to as "waste oil tank 2" of approximately 600-gallon capacity located south of the
northeastern canopy support On January 20, 1998 Wendt discovered a groundwater well
north of waste oil tank 2 The history of this well is unknown The steel-cased
groundwater well measures 4 inches in diameter and 40 feet total depth
The waste oil tank 2 excavation, removal, and sampling activities were conducted on
January 29, 1998 and were observed and approved by Mr Infurna The 600-gallon waste
oil tank had a hole approximately 118-inch'in diameter on the east endnear the bottom
Sample WO-2 was collected at 8-1/2 feet bgs beneath waste oil tank 2 (Figure 4) and was
analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX compounds, MtBE, VOCs, SVOCs, CAM 5 metals,
O & G, and PCBs Analytical results reported nondetectable levels for all constituents
analyzed except CAM 5 metals Chromium, nickel, and zinc were reported at 40, 28, and
47 mg/kg respectively Hoist and waste oil tank soil analytical results are summarized in
Table 2
Stockpile Sampling
All stockpiled soil was sampled for waste disposal characterization Approximately 48
cubic yards of soil were removed from the waste oil tank excavations Approximately 419
cubic yards of soil were removed from the product line and dispenser excavations All
• soils excavated were transported by Manley and Sons Trucking to BFI's Vasco Road
Landfill in Livermore, California Stockpiled soil analytical data is summarized in Table 3
