ei
gap--,
--MOP,
w
SIERRA
Number#3 Lone Star sand was placed into the annular space around the well screens to
a height of approximately one to three feet above the top of the well screen. Approximately 2 t't
of bentonite pellets was used to separate the sand from the sanitary surface sealf The seal was
{
composed of Portland cement mixed with 3.5%bentonite powder, Locking well caps were installed
and the wells were finished with water-tight traffic-rated boxes.
Ground water was encountered in the borings at approximately 54 to 64 ft below grade.
Static water is at approximately 64,5 to 56 feet below grade: Subsurface sediments, OVM
readings, water level measurements and well construction details are shown on the boring logs
In Appenft D. Well construction details are also shown in Table 2 (Appendix B).
I
Chill cuttings were stored on-site in 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT)
approved drums and each drum was sealed and labeled. The soil was taken to Redwood Landfill
in Novato. California for disposal.
The soil samples from the borings were analyzed for TPPH(G) and BTEX by EPA Method
8015 and EPA Method 8020,respectively. Soil samples from well NnV-5,near the waste oil tank,
were also analyzed for other VOCs by EPA Method 8240 and TOO by Standard Methods Method
503E.
3.WELL DEVELOPMENT AND GROUND WATER SAMPLING
E
The monitoring wells were developed with a surge block on August 23, 1990. Ground
water was removed from the well after su.aging using PVC bailer A minimum of 10 well casing
- volumes of water were removed from each well. The recovery rates for the wells was estimated to
be approximately 2 gallons per minute during development.
Ground water removed from the wells was temporarily stored on-site in 55-gallon DOT-
approved drums, The ground water was taken to Gibson Refinery,a Chevron designated disposal
facility.
Page 6
