off with additional cement grout and held under pressure for an additional 5 minutes.
The process will be repeated until the cement in each well is stable under pressure.
Upon completion of pressure grouting, each well box will be removed using a
jackhammer, the top 5 feet of each well will be removed, and the void replaced with
concrete to match existing conditions.
The well destruction activities performed by the drill-out method will use a hollow stem
auger drill rig to drill out the well casing and filter pack materials. After well
construction materials are removed, the boring will be filled with Type I/11 cement
grout which will be tremmied into the wells, under application of pressure. Upon
completion of grouting, each well box will be removed using a jackhammer and the void
replaced with concrete to match existing conditions. CRA's standard field procedures
for well destruction activities are presented as Appendix C.
3.5 SOIL AND WATER DISPOSAL
Soil and water waste generated during the well destruction activities will be contained
in 55-gallon DOT-approved steel drums and, pending analysis, will be transported to an
appropriate disposal facility.
3.6 REPORTING
After the wells have been properly destroyed, a Well Destruction Report will be prepared
that will summarize the well destruction activities and will include a site map with
destroyed well locations, well logs, and waste manifests. DWR well destruction forms
will alsobe completed and submitted to the Department of Water Resources.
161556(13) 4 CONESTOGA-ROVERS&ASSOCIATES
