13 December 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0433
1 Page 8 of 13
to boring B8,west to soil boring B21 (MW-8),but was not detected in soil boring B22 (MW
7).
• TPH-g was detected laterally in soil samples at 25 feet bsg in soil borings Bl, B3, B5 and B6
at concentrations up to 20 mg/kg at the north end of the former UST and at concentrations
of 1.2 mg/kg and 1.4 mg/kg elsewhere. TPH-g was not detected in soil samples collected at
30 feet bsg.
• TPH-g was detected in one soil sample from soil boring MW-1 at a depth of 25 feet bsg at
a concentration of 420 mg/kg. BTEX was also detected in this soil sample.
' TPH-d.was detected in soil above 20 feet bsg at concentrations up to 6,700 mg/kg (B6-10').
TPH-d was detected in soil at 20 feet-bsg at concentrations up to 8,200 mg/kg(B4720'). TPH-
d was detected in soil sarnples at 20 feet bsg, north from the former UST to boring B8'(1.6
' mg/kg). TPH-d was in soil at the same level to the west of the former UST in soil boring B5
(5,100 mg/kg), southeast in soil boring B21 [MW-7] (1.70 mg/kg) and in soil boring B22
[MW-8] (1.1 mg/kg) at 20 feet bsg.
0 TPH-d was detected in the four soil samples analyzed from 25 feet bsg near the former UST'
area at concentrations up to 38 mg/kg(B3-25').•TPH-d was not detected in probe boring soil
samples collected at 30 feet'bsg.
• TPH-d was detected in three of the soil samples collected from soil boring MW-1 at 15 feet,
25 feet and 30 feet bsg at concentrations of 1.5 mg/kg, 3,000 mg/kg and 4.9 mg/kg,
respectively.
• BTEX compounds.were detected in nine of the 24 soil samples analyzed. The greatest
. concentrations of BTEX compounds detected were generally in soil samples collected near
the former UST area at 20 feet bsg; BTEX compounds were not detected in the former
dispenser areas. Benzene was detected in five of 24 soil samples analyzed.
• MTBE was detected in six of the 24 soil samples analyzed. MTBE concentrations detected
in soil from the former UST area at 10 feet bsg were 9.9 mg/kg (B1-10'). MTBE was
detected in the soil sample collected at 20 feet bsg at concentrations up to 1.4 mg/kg.
• MTBE was also detected in soil samples collected near the former UST area at 25 feet bsg
at concentrations up to 0.34 mg/kg(EPA Method 8020).The concentrations of MTBE in soil
at 25 feet bsg decreased laterally to the north and northwest, with no detection of MTBE in
soil samples collected from boring B6; the highest concentration at.25 feet" bsg was
encountered at the northwest corner of the former UST area(B3).
• MTBE was detected in two of the soil samples collected from the monitoring well pilot
borings. Concentrations in samples MW1-15 and MWi-30 were 1.5-mg/kg and 0.32 mg/kg-,
' as quantified by EPA Method 8020. Concentrations in samples MW 1-15, MW 1-25 and
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
