. 05 October 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0433,
silt and clay content can be used for asphalt re-constitution."Although high sand content is.
present in stockpiled soil at the site (60%), the volume of silt and clay (40%) in the soil "
would probably prohibit use of the impacted soil for the production of asphalt. Cost for
asphalt re-constitution typically ranges between $45 and $50 per ton. This method of
addressing the impacted soil is-not thought to be either feasible or cost effective.
Soil Disposal: Disposal of the impacted soil at Forward Landfill will involve costs for
loading, transportation, disposal fees, and some analytical laboratory analyzes to characterize
the soil. The work can proceed with minimal disruption to normal site activities andwould
provide the"fastest"method of soil disposition. Transportation and disposal at Forward,Inc.
will cost between $20 and $25 per ton. This method of addressing the remaining stockpiled
soil on the site would involve minimal disruption of the business use of the property and is
believed to be the most cost effective method.
Based upon feasibility, cost and impact on the business use of the property, AGE recommends
disposal of the remaining impacted soil at Forward, Inc. This option will result in minimal
disturbance to site operations and,.based upon the small remaining volume of hydrocarbon-impacted
soil (150 cubic yards), appears to be cost-effective.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact our office at (209) 467-1006..
Sincerely, tr
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc:
William Little Nuel C.
