8. Item 15. Specific Comments: EPA's comment "Please explain the anomalous
groundwater depression in the vicinity of well LM059A (Figure A-8 in
Appendix A) " was not addressed in the Report and the Figure A-8 was not
modified.
9. Item 16. Specific Comments: EPA's comment "Please explain the anomalous
groundwater mounding in the vicinity of well LM067B (Figure A-11 in
Appendix A)" was not addressed in the Report and the Figure A-11 was not
modified.
10. Item 17. Specific Comments: EPA requested that the portions of the 1995
data set that passed the QA/QC screening be included in the trend
analysis. However, the Report was not revised to include the usable
portions of the1995 data set in the trend analysis.
11. Item 18. Specific Comments: EPA's original concern was regarding a
potential source for the increasing chloroform concentrations detected
at PW003. The RRTC stated that "Chloroform concentrations at PW003 will
continue to be monitored in 2000." As commented on previously by the
EPA, it is unknown in which horizon PW003 is screened (Table 2.5-1) and
what the flow direction is in this horizon. This issue was not clarified
in the Report to eliminate the possibility that DDJC-Tracy is the source
for the increased chloroform concentrations.
12. Item 19. Specific Comments: EPA requested that, since a legend was added
to Figures H-1 and H-2 indicating that no capture zones could be
identified, the reasons (as provided in the RRTC) for why no capture
zones could be identified also be added to the legend. However, the
figure legends were not expanded to include the reasons for why no
capture zones could be identified.
Please feel free to contact me at 415-744-2392 if you have any questions
or comments.
Sincerely,
a C
Michael Work
Federal Facilities Cleanup Office
Superfund Division (SFD-8-3)
cc: (See Distribution List)
3
