Harlin Knoll [EH]
From: JMCDERMO@up.com
Sent: Friday, May 15, 2009 11:59 AM
To: Harlin Knoll [EH]
Cc: JALEVY@up.com;james.walker@boartlongyear.com; rjasmer@ceno-zoic.com
Subject: Lathrop, CA- Union Pacific Water Well Destruction
Please refer to our telephone conversation of May 15, 2009, regarding the
destruction of a water well located south of Roth Road and west of Union Pacific Railroad
track in Lathrop, California. Boart-Longyear, contractor to Union Pacific, pulled the
pump from the well and noticed oil had accumulated within the casing from the pump' s
lubrication system. This was reported to SJCDEH in a conversation between yourself and
Paul Golden of Boart-Longyear on May 11, 2009. In our conversation you noted that the
discovery of lubricating oil for this type of pump is common and that the oil is normally
removed from the casing and properly disposed and the well is then destroyed. As the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department has
Unionrisdicti n i in this
oadand matter
Boaand tthe
oil
ar
removal and disposal is standard protocol,
will complete the Lathrop well destruction in this manner. Union Pacific was advised that
no other notifications are necessary in this matter.
Thank you for your assistance in the destruction of the Lathrop well.
If you have any questions, please call me at 402-544-3675.
1 i
