Specifically, the ground water does not exhibit either
strong oxidative or reductive characteristics. USEPA guidance states that sites with
limited evidence supporting natural attenuation should evaluate a remedial option other
than monitored natural attenuation as a sole remedy.
DTSC concurs with the report's conclusions stating there is inadequate to limited
evidence supporting natural attenuation in ground water beneath DDJC-Sharpe. DTSC
recommends DDJC-Sharpe evaluate alternative remedies other than monitored natural
attenuation as a stand alone remedy.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this letter, please feel free to contact
me at (916) 255-3713, or e-mail me at pmacnich(cDdtsc.ca.aov.
Sincerely,
/,z—
Peter
MacNicholl, P.E.
Remedial Project Manager
Office of Military Facilities
cc: See DDJC-Sharpe Distribution List.
